Research interests:
Taxonomy, biodiversity and phylogeny of aphids and collembolans; Biology, ecology and conservation of the cave dwelling invertebrates.
Shalva Barjadze graduated from the Faculty of Biology at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University with Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2002 and he graduated from the Faculty of Biology at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University with Master’s degree in Ecology in 2004. He defenced PhD degree in Zoology at Institute of Zoology of the Georgian Academy of Sciences in 2005. The title of his dissertation was: “Fauna and Ecology of the aphids (Hemiptera: Aphidoidea) in riv. Dzama, Tana and Tedzami gorges”. Since 2001 he is working at Institute of Zoology and he became a leader of the invertebrates scientific-research team in 2016. He was an assistant professor in Entomology at the Agricultural University of Georgia in 2013-2017. From 2017 to 2019 he was an assistant professor and since 2019 he is an associate professor in the Invertebrate Zoology direction at Ilia State University. He published 73 scientific publications.
